Simply Bare Fruit Loopz

Simply Bare Fruit Loopz
  • Purchase Experience: Initially wanted to buy 1964 LA Kush Cake but was unable to due to potential elite member restrictions.
  • Physical Appearance: The product had three well-formed buds with a dry texture, faded green and brown colour, and some proto-seeds.
  • Flavour Profile: Earthy and woodsy with subtle sweetness, reminiscent of White Widow.
  • Aroma: Layered and balanced, with notes of cheese, spice, soap, and wood, leaning towards White Widow and Super Silver Haze.

Introduction

This is my final cannabis review of the year, featuring Simply Bare Fruit Loopz. While I unboxed it on December 15, 2024, the product was purchased on November 16. Despite having it for 30 days—a delay 46% longer than my usual timeframe—I hesitated to open it because it wasn’t my first choice.

Simply Bare is a familiar name in Canadian cannabis, consistently ranking in the top 10 for consumer reviews and mentions. While not necessarily groundbreaking, they maintain a reputation for quality, which often influences my purchasing decisions. However, my original plan was to buy 1964 LA Kush Cake from Canna Cabana’s Bowness location. Despite the app showing it in stock, I learned upon arrival that it might be an elite offering, available only to elite members.

Unable to purchase what I intended, I settled for Fruit Loopz after a conversation with the store staff.  Although disappointed, the interaction was still interesting—apparently, Crowfoot is Canna Cabana’s busiest location, while Varsity has the lowest prices. I also noted that the duty stamp on the package was torn, which raised concerns but I was unable to open the container in the store. The seal appeared intact when I checked it in the car, but the situation left me wary.

Visuals

The presentation was more than adequate. My 3.5 grams consisted of three buds—two large and one small. The buds were well-formed and compact enough to require some effort to remove from the jar.

Colouration was underwhelming, dominated by faded greens and autumn browns, with no vibrant highlights to stand out. However, the structural integrity and surface details, such as trichomes, were solid. A few proto-seeds were present, which is increasingly common in commercial cannabis but may disappoint some consumers.

Feel

The texture leaned slightly dry, though the buds retained some compressibility. Considering the package date in August and my own delay in opening it, this wasn’t unexpected. While not fresh, the product was far from brittle or overly dry.

Scent

Breaking the seal released a faint pop, a positive indicator of proper packaging. The aroma was immediately apparent, blending cheesy, spicy, soapy, and woodsy notes. The scent leaned into the profile of a White Widow with elements reminiscent of Super Silver Haze.

While the fragrance was layered and balanced, it didn’t evoke the sweetness implied by the name “Fruit Loopz.” Instead, it offered a more subdued, earthy complexity, with a European-style profile that was distinct but restrained.

Taste

The flavour followed the scent profile closely. Initial notes were mild, with hints of honey and banana rind, balanced by a grassy undertone. The banana rind added a flat fruitiness.

The dominant earth tones and woodsy elements gave it a flavour profile closer to White Widow than Blue Dream. While not particularly vibrant, the taste was well-defined and cohesive. It delivered a grounded, nostalgic experience without veering into the bold, sugary territory of more modern hybrids.

Summary

Simply Bare’s Fruit Loopz is a balanced and restrained product that offers a break from the louder, more aggressive flavour profiles currently dominating the market. Its focus on earthy and woodsy tones, combined with subtle sweet elements, makes it an interesting nod to classics like White Widow.

However, the name “Fruit Loopz” feels misaligned with the product’s actual characteristics, as the fruity elements are minimal. While the muted coloration and slightly dry texture detract somewhat from the overall appeal, the flavour and scent are nuanced enough to compensate.

This is not an offering that demands attention, but it works well for those seeking a relaxing and understated experience. For consumers looking to escape the cookie or Zkittlez-dominated hybrids, this product offers a unique alternative.
