Pomelo Skunk From Victoria Cannabis Company

This is loud. Scent and taste intensity is what I would expect from a highly skilled small scale home grower, not from a commercial producer. I was in the mood to combust as well as sample through the volcano and both experiences displayed features that point to a very high quality product.

Pomelo Skunk From Victoria Cannabis Company

Intro

Squid Pants here with an offering that’s outside of the currently trendy profiles for taste and scent. In the interest of disclosure this cannabis was sent to me as a professional sample, clearly labelled as such from the Victoria Cannabis Company and as such I lack information of price and other details (eg testing numbers) for this product. We're not being paid to write this post.

With that disclaimer out of the way let’s dig in!

Pomelo Skunk

Pomelo Skunk is Ciroc, bred by Lantzville Craft Cannabis Genetics. The change of name is apparently due to Health Canada considering the original name unacceptable (without going into details of what my previous career was, if released under the Ciroc name the odds of a lawsuit that would be incredibly hard to defend resulting was very high, so the change of name is for the best and not done for nefarious reasons).

The genetics here are [(Rockstar x Bubba Kush) x (Rockstar x Bubba Kush)] x [Lime Skunk x Orange Valley OG] (as per Seedfinder). Those ancestors are some Western Canadian heavyweight favourites.

Victoria Cannabis Company

Victoria Cannabis Company is located on BC’s Pacific coast. They feature some heavyweight names in the Canadian cannabis space and feature less mainstream genetics that focus on west coast favourites and unique profiles in flavour and scent. You can see their website if you are curious and want more information.

Looks

With the caveat that these buds were selected for me and I do not know that the individual packages will look the same, this looks fantastic. Trim is done with great care and displays surface morphology clearly. Buds are large with a dynamic surface, deep green bracts with bright orange stigma emerging and dense, pleasing trichome coverage.

Feel

Manually pinched the material is pleasantly springy and firm. Ground the output is fluffy, reminiscent of what is commonly referred to as a sativa dominant hybrid.

Opinion Objectively

I am going to split the rest of my observations here between objective and subjective observations. I’ve chosen to do so since I didn’t pay for this, so breaking things down with an emphasis of analysing value for money isn’t possible for me here.

This is loud. Scent and taste intensity is what I would expect from a highly skilled small scale home grower, not from a commercial producer. I was in the mood to combust as well as sample through the volcano and both experiences displayed features that point to a very high quality product.

When combusted, the burn was very clean and the material stayed ignited easily. Combustion products did not obfuscate the flavours until quite close to the end of the joint. In the volcano the profile stayed both strong and true to its initial character until the cannabis was pretty well spent. Objectively there are no complaints with this product nor with consuming this product.

Opinion Subjectively

Do you like terpinolene? Do you like it so much that if every other scent or taste is almost completely crowded out or missing you’d be in heaven? Do you REALLY need any skunkiness in the scent or taste profiles or would its absence be a selling point for you? If so, this is for you.

In the grinder notes of citrus rind are detectable if you really go looking for them, otherwise it’s all terpinolene. In the Volcano it’s almost all terpinolene with the quietest hint of limonene. In a joint there’s a little more than a hint of citrus giving the terpinolene an almost fresh tasting feel. In neither did I detect any skunk.

Personally I found it to be very single note, and that note is obviously terpinolene. I am aware there are some consumers out there that adore terpinolene so much that this is selling them on this offering, but I am not one of them.

Conclusions

This impressed me in quality of production in almost every possible way. My only real complaint is that the highly focused profile was in my opinion lacking in breadth such that expected flavours and scents I was anticipating did not make it into the final product.

I did not pay for this so I have no opinion on value for money. I can tell you that this is a premium craft product, but it’s also one that won’t appeal to everyone. In fact I suspect opinions on this one will be somewhat polar.

Specifically for terpinolene lovers, your day has finally come. For myself, I am far more excited to talk about the other offering sent to me by VCC, so come back soon to see my look at Mango Mac!
