Kolab Kalifornia

Kolab Kalifornia

Doing Kalifornia today. This has Kolab and Lotus on the package, one of them probably bagged this and the other grew it.

The nifty bit of this offering is this is actually a Bhodi bred cultivar. This breeder is responsible for many really cool cultivars, of which we have a few in the Canadian legal market.

Lineage

Nepali OG (also Bhodi) x ’88 G13 Hashplant, both of which you see in many crosses by this breeder.

BUYER MOTIVATION

Breeder

VISUALS

Size leans towards the smaller side. Detailed visuals appear good, the smalls are broken up from larger buds, but bag appeal is lacking. Surface detail is good. Trim is excellent.

FEEL

The buds are dry, but dense, so they can withstand some force, but don’t impress or return

SMELL

Scents are warm earths and pine. The earths feel near blueberry muffin, the pine is watery, and floral. Magnitude is very light across the notes in the profile.

TASTE

Frontage on the tastes are dry potpourri earths, with slightly spiced pine. Character seems reduced, and lacking.

VALUE

Price was $10 per gram, or $34.99 for the eighth. For legal markets, this is about average, maybe on the low side. For legacy markets, the price leans on the high side of average.

IMPRESSION

Taste and scent were lacking, which makes the lasting impression with this offering. There wasn’t much to it.

CONSUMER BENEFITS

Looks are the benefit here. Olfaction was secondary.

CONSUMER PAINS

Lack of olfactory quality. Value.

ATTRACTIONS

Chance at seeing a likeable offering. If you have knowledge of the breeder or lineage I think that’s attractive.

COMPROMISES

It’s a price segment of thick competition. To purchase it, you’d have to be seeking this specifically or have it recommended to you, most likely.
