Looking at Gabriola today.

Broken Coast also calls this Frost Monster, an in house creation with an unknown lineage.

Saw it last January 2019 via a recreational vendor, you can read the previous review here. Today we review the same flower, sourced on the medial side, direct from Broken Coast.

VISUALS

Buds are a collection of ample to small size, with enough development, coverage and colouring to near excellent looks. Has more than enough appreciable features with bud size being the only point to complain about.

FEEL

More firm than spongey, the buds demonstrate good structure but poor return. A good press pushes through the rigidity and will destruct the buds.

SCENT

Frontage of the scent seems to come from the low side of the aromatic spectrum. Sweet low earthy, gritty with dank fuels approach first, graced by ripples of lime citrus and tart berry in staccato creating the topside.

TASTE

Flavours are berried pine, with a splash of gas. The bottom of this profile is marred by a musty overtone. The exhale is cleaner, the finish is free of the off taste. Magnitude of flavour seems low. Enjoyment is difficult.

VALUE

Bought direct from Broken Coast, price on this 5 gram package was $62.90, or $12.58 per gram. I had a hard time finding value in it. The quality I saw here doesn’t meet the quality seen when I reviewed this January 2019. Nor would I say does it meet the level needed for the price point, the taste was too far off.

SUMMARY

Broken Coast Gabriola. Hey, sometimes you get a bad batch; this had the looks, but it sure didn’t have the taste. I’d compare it to eating a sandwich where one of the ingredients had gone bad, the profile is mostly there, but the taste is tainted enough that it’s hard to consider it a good tasting sandwich.
