Broken Coast Cherry Cheesecake
Today, we review Broken Coast Cherry Cheesecake. I believe this strain is bred by Crop King, with a lineage of Cherry Pie x Kimbo Kush. I also see this lineage offered by Vancouver Seed Bank under their brand, leaving me uncertain if they are identical products.
My motivation for purchasing this strain stemmed from the positive buzz surrounding Broken Coast lately.
Upon opening the package, I was pleased with its visual appeal; it looks great straight out of the container. The tactile experience was equally satisfying, with a good feel. However, the olfactory aspect left something to be desired; the smell was light and lacked distinct characteristics.
In terms of taste, Cherry Cheesecake offered a funky and skunky profile, reminiscent of cherry-type strains but leaning more toward a dry, cheesy funk rather than the expected cherry flavour. While there were enjoyable notes, the overall flavour profile was somewhat disappointing in terms of wealth of flavour. Don't get me wrong, I couldn't call it scant either. Just left me wanting more.
The price was lower than average for this package size compared to my previous purchases, and I rated it above average. While I won’t be buying it again, I can understand why others might. The recent hype around Broken Coast is well deserved.
At $49.41 for 7 grams (or $7.06 per gram), I found the product to be 11.5% cheaper than what I have been paying for a quarter over the past six months. While I don't regret the purchase, I wouldn't consider it a re-buy. The product contains 25.1% THC and 0% CBD, with a total cannabinoid content of 25.1% and terpenes at 2.64%. It was packaged on May 14, 2024, and purchased on September 13, 2024, making it 122 days old at the time of purchase, which is 76% longer than the average time for products I typically buy.

Visual Description:
Looks really good coming out of the package.
Feel Description:
I called it good.
Smell Description:
Smell is light with not much to describe, I find.
Taste Description:
Sweet cherry with a funky, reduced skunk leave. Prominence is average. Longevity is better. The flavor profile lacks definition; it's basic and doesn't impress.
Summary:
This tastes like you've recently had a cherry lozenge, which is probably the best compliment I can pay it. I find the flavor profile balanced towards the dry, cheesy funk you get with some cherry-type strains and less towards the actual cherry. Although it had some nice aspects, it was lacking with respect to the price. Don't feel bad about buying it, but not a re-buy for me.
Value:
Looked good but not sure the value is there. The flavor profile was somewhat disappointing.
