Carmel Rares

Carmel Rares

Thanks for joining me for today's review of Golden Crisp, produced by Northern Canna and sold by Carmel under their Rares brand.

Picked this up from Canna Cabana at 10 AM on Saturday. Three people in the store when it opened, and by 10:10, there were at least 10 people waiting. The bartenders were doing okay; mine complained about not having coffee. I had a couple of questions about what was actually in this bag, and she was able to assist me going back and forth from the back. Probably not ideal with the number of people in the store, but I still got what I wanted, which is most important for an individual to get what they want. I think I could've selected this from their screen terminal and made the order, but I'm not sure anyway.

Lineage

The bud tender's mention of GMO Cereal Milk in the lineage was a decisive factor for me. Additionally, the desire to leave the crowded store quickly influenced my purchase, as it wasn't an ideal place for asking questions with a long queue.

During a trip to Las Vegas, I visited a seemingly upscale dispensary on the strip. There, you meet with a bartender in a cozy booth, creating a personalized experience. They take the time to understand your preferences, guide you through the menu, and allow you to ask questions in a one-on-one setting. Although it may take longer and be less efficient for the store, I found this approach to be significantly better for the consumer.

Looks

Size is medium to small. Development looks good enough throughout. Colouring is typical orange and green. Up close, there's a good amount of trichome coverage without anything you don't want to see. Pretty standard for product that hits the marks.

Feel

Large to small, the buds all feel better than decent.

Scent

The unground buds emit a subtle skunky berry aroma. It's not overpowering or intense in its natural state. Grinding the buds reveals a dry, earthy tone that transforms into a dirty, gassy funk—reminiscent of GMO cereal. While cereal milk tones down the GMO funk, it still maintains a predominant cereal milk profile with GMO undertones.

Taste

In the taste, the initial bitter berry notes pave the way for a funky earthiness, accompanied by a persistent gas quality that is slightly tempered by the berry essence. The profile strikes a harmonious balance between GMO and cereal milk, yet the GMO flavours take centre stage with use in the vaporizer, asserting a sulphurous presence on the palate. The aftertaste is distinctly GMO. Cereal milk influences the introduction and conclusion of the flavour profile, creating an intriguing transition.

Summary

Golden Crisp flavour has an interesting dimension. It's akin to the offspring of two celebrities—expected, yet the relevance may be subjective. Although enjoyable, it's not anything new, just a smear of its parents, that fails to surpass either.
